Store Associate
Dogpatch Games, the fastest growing destination for board game enthusiasts in the Bay Area, is seeking new customer-facing team members to assist with retail sales, events, and in-store game play at our store and play space in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco.
This position reports to the store manager, who leads the team.
You’ll be assisting with game purchases, event organization, and hands-on game assistance. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals with experience working in customer service, retail, and events. The right person will have a strong desire to create the best experience for customers, members, and participants, and have a great time doing it. They will thrive on bringing fun to customers engaging in events and activities at the store, and in maintaining the store’s environment. They will enjoy the dynamics of a young and growing small business, finding improvements to the business, and adapting to changes in procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Strong customer service and people skills
A strong understanding of board games and board game culture
An engaging and outgoing personality
A love of bringing fun to others
Great attention to detail for purposes of arranging merchandise, organizing and re-shelving played games, and maintaining store appearance
Ability to lift heavy merchandise, walk and stand for long hours
Outstanding sales abilities to sell items to customers
The ability to work a schedule including nights and weekends
Comfortable working with retail and operational platforms to process sales and maintain customer databases
Experience working with kids in retail environments and event settings
Bonus Skills
Experience and interest in building and improving operational processes
Knowledge and experience working with databases and large data sets
Experience working in inventory management, improving inventory tracking
Event experience with a wide variety of customer dynamics, employing flexible soft social skills
Online community support through systems such as Discord
Website management and development
Retail management

$17.00 - $22.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience

Event Facilitator
Dogpatch Games is seeking Events Facilitators to contract with us to run and assist with events! Events contractors would assist with running specific events, with training and guidance from staff. Events Facilitators will typically be in charge of preparation, running an event, and clean up of game materials. Compensation is based on the duration of the event, with differences between the type of events depending on the expected preparation outside of it. Training will be compensated separately!
Events Facilitators will coordinate with the Events Manager and Store Manager to sign up for running events and programs.
Adult Programs: Dungeons and Dragons, Board Game Learn & Plays, Ladies Game Nights, and Corporate Events
Kids Programs: Dungeons and Dragons club & parties, Board Games club, Birthday Parties
Job Hours & Schedule
Event Facilitator (Adults): 2-10 hours per month, weeknights after 6pm or weekends
Event Facilitator (Kids): 2-6 hours per week, weekdays between 3pm-6pm or weekend afternoons
Compensation
Adult Board Games: $20-$25 per event hour
Adult D&D: $25-$30 per event hour
Kids Board Games: $25-$35 per event hour
Kids D&D: $40-$50 per event hour
Note: Facilitators are 1099-NEC contractors, and may also choose to receive compensation through Dogpatch Games store credit or membership. Rates are subject to change based on experience.
